This pendant is made using a wax seal of an owl, stamped into pure silver.
The seal depicts an owl gazing intently outward, whilst perched on a solitary branch. Owls have long been associated with wisdom and mystery, symbolizing intelligence, mysticism, transitions, protection and secrets. It’s such a great personal talisman and would serve as a fantastic reminder to the wearer of the value of wisdom.
Native Americans associated the meaning of owls with wisdom, foresight, and keeper of sacred knowledge. This may largely be due to the fact that the owl is a great foreteller of weather conditions.
Similarly, West African and Aboriginal Australian cultures viewed the owl as a messenger of secrets, kin to sorcerers, as well as companions to seers, mystics and medicine people.
During medieval times in western and central Europe it was fabled that owls were actually priestesses (witches) and wizards in disguise. To this day the owl is considered a witch’s familiar (an animal soul-spirit linked to a spiritual person via a unique, communicative bond).
The pendant is made out of pure fine sterling silver and hand stamped with an antique wax seal of an owl.
Each seal is stamped, sanded, polished and oxidized for an antique look. Because they are hand-stamped individually and made to order, these pendants are truly unique, and no two pendants are the same (unlike pendants cast from a mold).
Instead of drilling a hole through the silver and thereby ruining the beautiful imprint of the seal, the pendent is set with a sterling silver bail and jumpring. The jump ring is soldered closed for added protection, so it won’t open when tugged on and result in you losing your beautiful piece. These extra details make this piece heirloom quality, and a timeless treasure that can be passed down through generations.
